Off the Beaten Path: Biking Through the Green Mountains
As the height of summer approaches, there’s no better time than July to immerse yourself in the adrenaline-pumping thrill of mountain biking! At the Mountain Top Resort, we extend a warm invitation to all adventurers to gear up and prepare to conquer some remarkable trails.
Starting right from our resort, you’ll have access to an extensive 60 km trail network. Whether you choose to ride at the mountain’s summit or explore the loop around the Reservoir below, you are guaranteed a full day of fun. We suggest checking out our trail map to see all the different spots to check out.
Just a couple miles down the road, Pine Hill Park offers an extensive network of trails for all riding levels. If you are just learning to ride for the first time, they have 2 miles of beginner’s loops such as the Escalator, which allow those who may be a little unsteady to get grounded and find their balance. Those who consider themselves to be more advanced can traverse throughout the other 325 acres of terrain which include more hills, leading to stunning views.
To end your trip, we recommend a visit to Killington. Killington is roughly 13 miles from our resort and has a couple of places that are perfect for hitting the trails. First to visit would be the Base Camp, which is a full-service ski, bike, and gear shop located right before the access road to the mountain. Behind their building is an extensive 25 miles of trail where you can bike yourself or go for a guided tour. Next is Killington Mountain Bike Park. Save your energy by using one of their three lifts, transporting you to the very tops of Killington Peak, where views of Vermont, and the Mountain Top Resort, of course, can be seen. For those seeking a milder ride, Snowshead offers an excellent option perfectly suited for bikers still refining their skills. Additionally, the park presents a variety of group or private biking lessons, ensuring a fulfilling day on the trails.
So whether you’re a seasoned pro or a newcomer to the world of mountain biking, we welcome you with open arms and thrilling trails. Grab your bike, find your perfect route, and immerse yourself in the beauty and excitement of Vermont’s rugged terrain.
