Winter/Spring Resort Activities

COVID-19 NOTICE: Our Cross Country Ski Center will abide by all Vermont State guidelines for Ski Operations.  Please review some specifics regarding our nordic program policy here, and our overall resort covid-19 protocols here. In addition to contact tracing requirements upon EVERY visit involving our activities, ALL guests MUST fill out a health survey prior to (or immediately upon arrival for) EVERY visit.  Our activity center building has a maximum occupancy of 10 persons at a time.  The center may be used for restrooms, covid-19 paperwork, giftshop/grab’n go food purchase, equipment fittings and activities payments only.  Please do not loiter in or around the center.  All of our winter activities (including access to our Activity Center & Gift Shop) will be available WEDNESDAYS THROUGH SUNDAYS ONLY this winter through season-end March 2021.  During holiday weeks, weather permitting, we will offer 7 days of activities.  Access to our XC Ski trails is prohibited on the days we are closed.

With  700 private acres perched at the top of a quiet mountain road, a 740 acre lake, miles of trails, expansive meadows, the Green Mountain National Forest and a full host of activities, there is no shortage of things to do right here at the resort.  And in the winter through spring, as our entire resort glistens with snow, you will find all of the activities Vermont is famous for!   Use the images below to learn more about all of our winter activities.  Most of our winter activities officially commence in mid to late December and continue through March. Many winter activities are weather dependent, please call ahead for information about conditions and availability.

XC SKIING

We are open for skiing!!  Be sure to check www.trailhub.org for open trails & conditions.  Please note there are Covid-19 related changes in ticketing & equipment rental processes.  The number of guests in the activity center is also limited.  Enjoy 60km of trails!   Cross Country Skiing at Mountain Top has been a favorite past-time since 1964.  With all of that history, varied terrain and sweeping views, you are sure to have the experience of a life-time.  We have Dog Friendly Trails!  For the 2020/21 season, our trails  are open Wednesdays through Sundays (9a-4p Wed-Fri : 8a-4p Sat&Sun).

SNOWSHOEING

We are open for Snowshoeing!   Whether you’ve been doing it for years, or this is your first try, snowshoeing is a wonderful way to explore the woods and meadows and get that cardio going! Our team at the Activities Center will provide you with a trail map, and our Chef’s would be happy to pack you a lunch! When you get back, have some s’mores by the fire, or take a long soak in the hot tub – you’ve earned it!

SEASON TRAIL PASSES

XC Ski & Snowshoe Season Trail Passes make great holiday gifts!  Individual Season pass $200, Family of 4 $400.   Buy a 2020/2021 individual or family of 4 season pass & receive a FREE ‘bring a friend’ day pass (friend pass includes equipment rental).  MTR season pass holders gain access to XC Ski Centers across Vermont through the Ski Vermont Reciprocal Pass Program. Gift Shop

The Mountain Top Resort Gift Shop is a wonderful place to pick up some Vermont foods and products or Mountain Top memorabilia to take home with you or give as gifts to your family and friends!  Located at our activities center, the gift shop is just a short walk from the main lodge. Our gift shop is open year-round but hours vary seasonally, so check with the front desk if you have any questions.  Our gift shop will be closed on Mondays & Tuesdays (except holiday weeks) for the 2020/21 winter season.

Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides

A horse drawn sleigh ride is a quintessential Vermont thing to do! Take a romantic sleigh ride with that someone special or bring the kids along and make memories to last a lifetime.  RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.

Call about our extra Special Sleigh Ride & Dinner Package (includes sleigh ride, 3-course dinner for two & taxes for $150 (gratuity & alcohol not included)).

Open* Wednesday through Sunday mid-December – March.  (open 7 day’s holiday weeks (*weather permitting)).

Snowmobiling

While we do not offer snowmobiling on-site, WE ARE DIRECTLY ACCESSIBLE VIA VAST!

Stop by for a bite to eat (or overnight stay) as you journey along the VAST Trail System – we’re located right on the trail.   Join us at the resort Wednesdays through Sundays this 2020/21 winter season (open every day holiday weeks).  Please follow our Covid-19 related policies including advance notice for dining and single household seating.

 

Ice Skating

Bring your own skates, or rent a pair from our Activities Center. Ice skating is part of the quintessential Vermont Winter experience!

Winter Season only, Wednesday through Sunday (Wed-Fri 9a-4p : Sat/Sun 8a-4p), weather permitting.

Use of the rink is an overnight stay-inclusive amenity, skates can be rented separately.  Our rink is open to the public.  Please view our activities rates page for rental prices.
