With 700 private acres perched at the top of a quiet mountain road, a 740 acre lake, miles of trails, expansive meadows, the Green Mountain National Forest and a full host of activities, there is no shortage of things to do right here at the resort. And in the winter through spring, as our entire resort glistens with snow, you will find all of the activities Vermont is famous for! Don’t miss out on the activities at Mountain Top Resort available all year long! Our hot tub, fitness center, hiking trails & sauna are open year-round for the exclusive (and complimentary) use of our overnight guests. Year-round our spa is open to the public.
The 2021-22 season is underway! Cross Country Skiing at Mountain Top has been a favorite past-time since 1964. With all of that history, varied terrain and sweeping views, you are sure to have the experience of a life-time. We have Dog Friendly Trails! In season, check our trail conditions at trailhub.org.
Come out and snowshoe with us! Whether you’ve been doing it for years, or this is your first try, snowshoeing is a wonderful way to explore the woods and meadows and get that cardio going! Our team at the Activities Center will provide you with a trail map, and our Chef’s would be happy to pack you a lunch! When you get back, have some s’mores by the fire, or if you are an overnight guest – take a long soak in the hot tub – you’ve earned it!

Horse drawn sleigh rides are a quintessential Vermont experience! Take a romantic sleigh ride with that someone special or bring the kids along and make memories to last a lifetime. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.

The Mountain Top Resort Gift Shop is a wonderful place to pick up some Vermont foods and products or Mountain Top memorabilia to take home with you or give as gifts to your family and friends! Located at our activities center, the gift shop is just a short walk from the main lodge. Our gift shop is open year-round but hours vary seasonally, so check with the front desk if you have any questions.
Bring your own skates, or rent a pair from our Activities Center. Ice skating is part of the quintessential Vermont Winter experience!
Winter Season only (rink opens in late December, weather permitting).
Use of the rink is an overnight stay-inclusive amenity, skates can be rented separately. Our rink is open to the public. Please view our activities rates page for rink pass & rental prices.
Join us for some sledding this winter! Located directly outside our tavern & restaurant, let the kids (or the inner kid in you!) play on our complimentary sledding hill. Our sledding hill is reserved for overnight stay resort guests only. Sleds are available on a 1st come 1st serve basis. This activity is available only when conditions permit. Please supervise young children.
While we do not offer snowmobiling on-site, WE ARE DIRECTLY ACCESSIBLE VIA THE VAST TRAIL SYSTEM!
Stop by for a bite to eat (or overnight stay) as you journey along the VAST Trail System – we’re located right on the trail. Check the vast website to ensure our local trail is open. Please follow our Covid-19 related policies including advance notice for dining.
